Apple Picking

I am a huge fan of fall, but I have not been ready for it this year. I blame our busy summer. Last week, our son started the transition to one nap (unbeknownst to me and without my permission…kids!). So on a morning that he refused his nap, I grabbed my camera and took him on a spontaneous apple picking trip. My parents used to take us to Michigan to pick apples as kids and I loved it. Luckily for me, there is an orchard not too far from our home. We had a BLAST! He laughed at the idea of picking the apples and loved carting around the wagon. In true toddler fashion, he meticulously picked up apples from the ground and placed them in the wagon. I photographed his actions… and then put the rotting ones back on the ground. After we picked apples, he played in the kid area. He drove tractors on a race track, petted “cows” (wooden ones), hung out in a barn and watched little goats eat as I recited lines from his farm book (forgetting I was in public and not everyone would enjoy my rendition of the goat sounds). We then picked up some goodies from the farm store and headed home for a much needed nap and lots of unexpected editing. I think I am ready for fall.
